The day will be a mixture of presentation and large group discussion, with time for questions and reflections and small discussion groups.  There will be a particular emphasis on whether children, young people and adults with learning disabilities who experience mental health/emotional difficulties are at this time further discriminated against due to lack of resources generally and specifically within health, education, social work and the legal system.

On Friday 13 March 2020 at our training suite in central Glasgow, we will be hosting a conference on adolescence and depression

This one-day conference will provide a psychoanalytic overview of adolescence and depression and give an insight into how we work with adolescents and their parents and carers. Depression is one of the most common reasons for referral to mental health services, with statistics as high as one in four teenage girls reporting symptoms of depression, with boys not far behind.

Speakers include Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists from the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) Child Psychotherapy team. Current line-up: Andrew Dawson, Lynne Conway, Gillian Sloan Donachy, Fiona McIntosh, Nicole Brodie and Kasia Zych, who will describe case studies of long- and short-term interventions with adolescents and their parents/carers.
